SofTopper was started in July of 2000. The company is owned by Larry and Robert Dwyer and is based in Boulder, Colorado.

The SofTopper began as most new products do, with an unfilled need, and the initial spark of an idea. After a few years, a final product was ready for market.

The idea came about because of another interest, Moto-cross racing. We needed a cap on our pickup to store and protect our equipment while at the races, but at the same time, we couldn't get a motorcycle in the back of the truck with a conventional hard Topper on. We looked for something to do double duty, but could find nothing out there. We thought that we weren't the only ones out there with this type of need.

We said "lets try to build something ourselves."

Over a few years, in our spare time, between work and family we worked on our project.

Many prototypes were made and discarded. Many trials were chalked up to learning experiences and after many tweeks and adjustments, here and there, we were finally satisfied with the result.

The SofTopper was born.

We started out with one model to fit the compact pick-ups.

As our marketing efforts slowly began to spread the word, and we began getting orders from all over the country we expanded our facility and increased production to fill the growing demand. Our next model was for Full size short bed trucks, and now, we have Softoppers to fit the most popular trucks on the road.

We now ship Softoppers daily to every corner of the USA and Canada and are slowly gaining a market overseas. As more and more trucks ply our roads we see no end in sight.

We are planning to have more models ready, in the near future, to satisfy almost any pick-up truck on the road.
